El Rey Inn's Story

  • ERnoct3

Named as a National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat, El Rey’s gardeners use organic fertilizers, organic soils and soil amendments, organic pest controls, and native and xeric plantings. The hotel's on-site greenhouse is used to nurture seedlings for planting on our 5 acre oasis. We have incorporated some artificial turf for water conservation, and installed rain catchments around the property. El Rey Inn's goal is sustainability.

Environmental Commitment

Environmental improvements are of utmost concern to El Rey Inn. We encourage energy conservation and provide receptacles for recycling. Guests are asked to re-use towels when possible, and to choose when appropriate to save on daily linen washing. El Rey’s Green Initiative includes recycling ink cartridges, newspapers, magazines, all paper and junk mail, glass, aluminum, plastic and batteries. The Santa Fe hotel properly disposes of fluorescent bulbs and anything with mercury through a city program. We use a local business to refill ink cartridges.

"Green" Hotels are environmentally-friendly properties whose managers are eager to institute programs that save water, save energy and reduce solid waste—while saving money—to help PROTECT OUR ONE AND ONLY EARTH! greenhotels.com/members.php

Whether you are a single, couple or family / friends group, we’ll help you enjoy every day of your stay. Glowing write-ups in prestigious books and magazines have helped us spread the word about the little inn that has grown, yet retained its charm. Spend the night or stay a week. We think you’ll be glad you chose El Rey Inn.

El Rey Inn is proud to be a Business Partner with the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. Our commitment to the community is an important part of the satisfaction we feel in being involved and excited by life in Santa Fe.

The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, opened in July 1997, is dedicated to the artistic legacy of Georgia O’Keeffe and to the study and interpretation of American Modernism. It is the only museum in the world dedicated to an internationally known American woman artist, and is responsible for the stewardship of more than 50% of Georgia O’Keeffe’s total lifetime output, establishing it as the single most important and comprehensive repository of O’Keeffe’s work. The Museum’s collection includes over 3,000 art-works, along with photographs, archival materials and O’Keeffe’s houses in Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. These resources enable the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum to do what no other museum in the world can: bring the artist to life with a completeness possible nowhere else, while providing context to her place within American art history. The Museum safeguards for the future more than just artworks and archival materials, but an enormously important part of America’s artistic heritage.
